WHAT IS THE GREAT CANADIAN GIVING CHALLENGE?

CanadaHelps, the online donations platform we utilize, recognized a few years ago that traditionally June is the lowest giving month across Canada. In order to provide non-profits with support in their fundraising efforts they began the Great Canadian Giving Challenge. This challenge has a grand prize of $20,000 that goes to one participating charity at the end of the month.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Every donation made to us online during the month of June enters us for a chance to win. In fact, every dollar counts as an entry (minimum $3 donation required). View the contest rules.

TREAT THE TRUSSES

JUNE GOALS

This year our goal during June is to finalize the fundraising for Treat the Trusses. As of the end of May, we have about $14,000 remaining for this project.

So far we have raised over $36,000 to support the truss repairs and the construction to complete these repairs was completed during April and May 2021. We're so pleased to have been able to finish the physical work of this project during our closure since a majority of our facility needed to be closed to the public in order to safely complete the work.

The support of our community toward protecting our historic building that was built in 1941 has been very encouraging and has lifted our spirits during this extended closure.

The photographs below showcase our truss repairs. Having a hard time seeing the difference? That's what we're hoping to hear. The repairs were intended to be as invisible as possible while providing much needed support and weight bearing capabilities to sections of the roof truss system that had been affected the most by seasonal humidity changes in the eight decades of the building's life.
